About:
The North East branch.
The North East Branch of
the Cottage Garden Society covers a wide geographical area from Berwick
on Tweed to the edge of North Yorkshire and the North Sea coast to Carlisle.
Our group was formed about twenty years ago and currently has around
60 members. The main objectives of the group are the same as those of
the National Society, in that we try to promote interest in cottage
gardens, both past and present, to further the use of plants associated
with cottage gardens, assist those wishing to create and maintain such
gardens, to co-operate with groups having similar or sympathetic aims.
In addition to this, as
a group, we visit a variety of gardens throughout the year on a monthly
basis and enter Gateshead Summer Flower Show. We also have a Festive
Lunch in January, a Summer Lunch and an outing in June or July. As not
all members have cars, we operate a system whereby members with no transport
can obtain a lift to garden visits.
There are no special requirements for membership other than agreeing
with the objectives. Members do not have to have any particular gardening
expertise, or have a vast garden. Everyone shares their knowledge and
experience and we exchange seed and plants.

us - see information on our join page.
